To use these tools, you must first get certified by a member of makerspace leadership by testing out or taking a certification course (see tool certification). Once you are certified, you must pay for the time you spend using the tool. This is the time the tool is actively cutting/etching/etc. and will be referred to as “active machine time.” There are tiers of membership that cover some or all monthly tool time.
Next to each timed tool is a time log sheet. Fill it out while you are using the tool, or fill in the **Tool Time recording form.** The makerspace will tally up your time at the end of the month and send you an invoice for anything beyond the monthly usage included in your membership.
